It can be a challenge to plan a wedding in Maine! You can feel overwhelmed by all the great choices and for many brides this is the first really large event they have ever put together. This blog is to help you ask the right questions in making your selection!
The first thing to consider is just like real estate – location, location, location! Do you need a place near your home, near an airport, near a highway, in the mountains or on the water? Do you want your wedding and reception to be in the same place or do you want to be married in a church? Many receptions sites offer both the ceremony and the reception right on site! Do you want everything to take place outside, some of the festivities to be outside or none of it to be outside. More importantly, what is the back up plan if Mother Nature doesn’t cooperate?
Choosing the site of your wedding is much like choosing your home – you should walk in and immediately feel like this is where you want to be. You should be warmly greeted and made to feel at home. During your tour you should be asking and answering lots of questions. The more your wedding planner knows about you, the better they will be able to provide you with exactly the event you are looking for!
Finally, do the places you are considering offer the types of food you want to serve to your guests? You should have the opportunity to taste samples of different things and see if this place has a standard of excellence you are looking for. Naturally, you may like one thing and your mother something else, but the point of a tasting event is to ensure that overall the food is tasty and has a great presentation!
